Our medical professionals, patients, and families face an ever-increasing range of bioethical issues in their work and daily lives. Inspired by the University’s deep history in developing the biopsychosocial model, Paul M. Schyve ’66, ’70M (MD), ’74M (MD) made a generous gift to create the Schyve Center for Bioethics, uniting leaders across the University to study such issues.
Here, our faculty and staff are advancing bioethical training, education, and research, and helping patients and families make critical decisions related to bioethics. Gifts of any amount will help amplify this incredibly important work. Please consider supporting the Schyve Center today.
For more information, or to discuss directing your gift to a specific aspect of our mission, such as student scholarships, research, or equity and inclusion initiatives, contact Melissa Head, executive director of URMC Academic Programs, at (585) 273-2890 or melissa.head@rochester.edu.
"With its rich biopsychosocial tradition, the University is perfectly suited to deliberate bioethical issues and develop a framework for ethical decision making in clinical care, the health delivery system, and life sciences research. Together, leaders at the Schyve Center will harness their expertise to improve patient care and promote human dignity."
