Pediatric Residency Training Program

ACUE logo - Inclusive Teaching for Equitable Learning

The goal of our Pediatric Residency Program is to train exceptional pediatricians who improve the lives of children and are well-prepared for their next stage of practice, regardless of focus. We value teamwork, resident leadership - in both patient care and continuous program improvement, pursuit of excellence in all we do, and a supportive, inclusive, and diverse environment with an intentional stance on anti-racism.

We offer a flexible, well-balanced, and encouraging, yet rigorous, education serving a culturally and economically diverse population. Combined training sites at Golisano Children’s Hospital, the primary site and Rochester General Hospital provide educational settings ensuring residents are competent in the gamut of pediatric care from common to rare conditions. Our well-established track system provides a flexible structure for residents to customize their training based on individual passions.

Reflective of the inception of Community Pediatrics here, Rochester continues to boast a collaborative community approach in which different hospital systems and both hospital-affiliated and private practice pediatricians work together for the children and families in our region. Core principles, developed in Rochester around patient care and education including the Biopsychosocial Model and Self-Determination Theory, merge with our expert faculty to provide a learning environment that fosters resident autonomy, supports resident well-being, and cares for the entire patient.

Our residents’ career choices, which generally are evenly split between primary care and outstanding fellowship programs, reflect the balance of our program. Our graduates include leaders in clinical care, research, quality improvement, community advocacy, and education.

If you share these values, we'd love for you to join our residency family!
