About Me
Dr. Plotnik joined the faculty at the University of Rochester Medical Center in 1991 as an assistant professor and also serves as the associate medical director of the Rochester Eye and Human Parts Bank. He earned highest distinctions at the University of Michigan, where he received his Bachelor of Science and medical degree. After completing an ophthalmology residency and serving as chief resident at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he received further training through a cornea and external disease fellowship at the University of California-Davis.
Dr. Plotnik is actively affiliated with the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Eye Bank Association of America, and the Rochester Ophthalmic Society. He sees patients at the University of Rochester Flaum Eye Institute offices located at 210 Crittenden Boulevard.

Dr. Plotnik is my all time favorite doctor because he always makes me feel better about how I'm taking care of myself. He honestly is the only doctor (and I see a lot of them) who gives me good news and is always positive, even when the news isn't so great! He knows my medical background and knows SO much about Type 1 Diabetes. Medical professionals are so busy these days, a number of them just rush patients out the door. I was grateful for the time that he took to talk to me and for the positive feedback!

Dr. Plotnik is nothing short of fantastic! He is knowledgeable, thoughtful and most importantly, compassionate. His values and approach are also reflected by the members of his team. I'm serious when I say that he is exceptional and superior. The Flaum Eye Institute needs to observe his approach and try and to replicate it throughout the organization. You are fortunate to have him on their team.

Dr. Plotnik in is excellent. He listens, he explains what is going on and options for treatment. He let's you know expected outcomes and time frames and also any risks. He discusses this and includes me and others, as appropriate, in the final decision making. It is my choice to bases on his recommendations. Fabulous doctor.
