Dr. Stornelli grew up in Rochester, NY, attending Irondequoit High School before heading off to the woods of New Hampshire and Dartmouth College. He returned to Rochester for medical school, graduating in 1994. Residency training in Internal Medicine followed at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD, where he became a rabid Orioles fan and briefly flirted with becoming a Ravens fan before returning to his Western NY roots and the Buffalo Bills. After a Chief Residency year Dr. Stornelli accepted a full time faculty position at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and served two years as Assistant Residency Program Director. Since 2001 Dr. Stornelli has worked full time at Alexander Medical Group.

With a longstanding passion for health care reform and hopeless causes (see above, Buffalo Bills), Dr. Stornelli has served as President of the local chapter of Physicians for National Health Program, District President of the New York chapter of the American College of Physicians, and is the President-elect of the Highland Hospital Medical Staff. In his spare time he enjoys running half-marathons, skiing, and reading Harry Potter books aloud (complete with an embarrassingly awful British accent) with his two daughters, who beg him to talk normally. Though his father Leo Stornelli continues to work as a full time primary care doctor into his mid-80s, Dr. Stornelli is hoping to retire well before his 80th birthday.
