About Me

Johnny U.V. Monu, M.D. is a Professor of Radiology and Orthopedics in the Musculoskeletal division of the Department of Imaging Sciences. Dr. Monu received his medical degree at the University of Ibadan School of Medicine in Ibadan, Nigeria in 1978. He then completed an internship at University of...
Johnny U.V. Monu, M.D. is a Professor of Radiology and Orthopedics in the Musculoskeletal division of the Department of Imaging Sciences. Dr. Monu received his medical degree at the University of Ibadan School of Medicine in Ibadan, Nigeria in 1978. He then completed an internship at University of Benin Teaching Hospital in 1979 and went on to complete his radiology residency program in 1984. His fellowships were completed in General Radiology & Body Imaging (Ultrasound) in 1986, in Musculoskeletal Radiology as well as Nuclear Medicine in 1990. In May, 2013, Dr. Monu obtained a Masters in Hospital Management from Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester.

Since 1999, Dr. Monu has served as Program Director of Musculoskeletal Radiology in addition to his role as Fellowship Director. Dr. Monu has participated in many visiting professorships including an April, 2013 visit to R.R. Vredena Russian Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics. Recent special assignments have been as a Regional Coordinator for Sub-Saharan Africa International Skeletal Society Outreach and an External Assessor of Promotions at University of Benin in Nigeria. Over the years, Dr. Monu has reviewed several musculoskeletal journal articles and made several presentations at national meetings. In addition, he has published numerous journal articles and has written many book chapters on musculoskeletal imaging topics.
