The Doctor did not respond to my greeting upon entering room. He was not empathetic to what has become a longterm illness. He stood up and left the room abruptly before I had a chance to finish asking my questions. If I was taking too much time, he never mentioned it. I don't believe I took anymore time than normal.

My care was provided by Dr William Vaules. He is better than very good he is excellent. He very clearly explains the issues or things that need to be addressed with my health. He listens to my input, asks questions, makes observations and looks at all documentation provided and makes recommendations for the treatment or next steps. He takes the time to do a complete and through examination before recommendations.

He informs me why he is making the recommendations and then lets me decide how I want to proceed. He is very patient and never rushes me. I would highly recommend him to my friends, but he is not accepting new patients. I feel very fortunate to have him as my doctor.

I have been a patient with Panorama Internal Medicine for almost 40 years. I was a patient of Dr. Joel Shamaskin for 30 years and then upon his unfortunate early retirement I was transferred to Dr. William Vaules and I have been with him for almost 8 years. I have found continuity of care as well as compassionate and understanding with both of these doctors and their staff. Those for me make a doctor's practice the one where I want to receive my medical care for life. In addition the personal relationships formed with doctors and staff is top notch. Very satisfied with my medical care.

My appt. was routine for controlled substance for chronic pain - back rt. leg. [...] Dr. Vaules does not discuss these issues, but provides a low dose of Oxycodone for the pain. I have been consistent on my dose for 10 years & it still effective. (5mg - up to 6 pills per day). I am in constant pain, but, after trying many drugs, PT etc., this medication is effective in, taking the intensity down so I can be self-sufficient. That was the purpose of the visit - He reviewed recent blood work ordered by Dr. Qazi - and I'm so very sad about his passing - he was 'old style' AND DRS. NEEDS TO GET BACK TO THIS APPROACH IN MEDICINE! [...] I'm nearly 81 years old. Learning curve is excellent! PAIN is my constant companion. So it packs a bag for travel to see my kids & grandchildren scatter all over the US!

Wonderful experience. Dr. Vaules was outstanding. He is incredibly smart, very humorous and very adept at explaining the background and supporting statistics for each of the various blood test parameters and their relevance for my age group. He gave me numerous suggestions for self-monitoring and recommended (but optional) tests and/or diagnostic procedures that are available should concerns arise. I am very appreciative that he emphasized that while many things are recommended, it Is ultimately up to me to do the risk/benefit analysis and to this end he provided statistics for pros and cons and did so from memory, which impressed be to no end. I also appreciated the amount of time he spent with me, the fact that he actively listened and asked follow up questions as well as my opinion. At no time did I feel like he was in a hurry or distracted by needing to be to his next appointment.I would also like to commend the entire staff who made me feel welcome on this my first visit. The receptionist, nurse practitioners and other staff were cheerful, helpful and competent.

I have difficult to understand, diagnose, and treat illnesses. I know my doctor is frustrated, but on my most recent visit he came into the room and said something to the effect-"So why are you here now?" He was abrupt and did not smile. He made me feel bad. I don't see him that often. Frankly over the last year I've considered changing doctors. But I'm 75 and I've been with him for over 20 years.

Dr Vaules spent time discussing my current stays of multiple chronic diseases and together we made decisions that work for me and agreed upon changes, timelines and things the work or don't work for me as a person where i'm at right now. I so appreciate that quality of shared decision making. He did also take more time than he probably was scheduled for and I also appreciate his attention to my issues vs hurrying out to the next patient . It makes the visit welcoming and more personal.

I think all of the attention goes to life saving cancer curing, brain and heart surgeons etc but I think the day in day out year in year out care that the primary care office provides is saving lives and keeping individuals in our community healthy in ways that are deeper and more impactful because the relationship with them is over years and years. I believe that it is a waste of valuable time for the doctor to have to ask the survey questions that he has to ask at the beginning of the visit to fill out the current PMH in MyChart , IE weapon in the house? Do you wear a bike helmet? An overtrained "clerk" with eight plus years of higher education plus all the residency requirements. Yet it seems it must be done taking up valuable visit time, as well as driving up health care costs, even though we have known one another for about 20 years. It would be more beneficial to spend the allotted visit time talking to the patient about new/current concerns.things that may want warrent deeper probing. I suggest that a well trained clerk ask the same questions at the start of the visit, flagging any that had changed from the previous year or that were concerning, prior to the doctor entering the exam room. I do not now how doctors manage to function given all the hoops that they have to jump through for UR Medicine bureaucracy.
