I think the provider is very competent, but his interpersonal skills are Poor. He is undoubtedly very skilled in his high technology area, but he does not couple this with empathy for the patient and what the patient is going through in making a decision. Obviously the provider has gone through the situatiion many times with many patients, but he does not sense that the patient is going through this for the first time...and needs to be guided through the decision process in an objective, understanding way. They used to call this "the bedside manner". This provider does not have that. Instead of getting an MBA as his advanced degree...he should have majored in "interpersonal relattions".

This provider is an excellent surgeon (I imagine, I have no other way to compare) however the bed side manner is lacking. I often feel rushed which is probably more on me than him, if I ask questions he will politely answer but just knowing how many patients he sees in and out of examining rooms I definitely don't feel like I have any kind of personalized care. I leave with more questions than answers.

I have one major complaint. The doctor was very kind, attentive. However, it was not clear to me that my age-related macular degeneration was at the intermediate level, not the earlier level. Only when Nodalvision contacted me about the monitoring device did I understand this, as the contact stated clearly there are three levels of AMD, and I was in the middle level. That was not clear to me and seems important. Also, it was not totally clear to me that I was recommended for the monitoring device. I am very glad of it; of course I want to catch it the minute the dry AMD becomes wet AMD. However, I hate to be critical but the doctor needed to make those two things clearer and more important or emphasized than other info.

Bedside manner is pleasant, but doctor has lost my trust since the surgery for multiple reasons. I'm increasingly feeling like the treatment, while likely high quality is hampered by the profit based focus of the organization. My overall patient experience has been less than satisfactory. This is exclusive of the clinical support staff who have consistently provided excellent care.
