About Me

Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Villanueva obtained a Master's in Public Health degree from Yale University, and then worked for several years as a business consultant involved in health systems and health policy formulation. After medical school, she completed her neurology residency at the ...
Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Villanueva obtained a Master's in Public Health degree from Yale University, and then worked for several years as a business consultant involved in health systems and health policy formulation. After medical school, she completed her neurology residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) in 2009, followed by a Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship, which included training in nerve conduction studies, electromyography, and electroencephalography (EEG). She is board certified in both neurology and headache medicine.

Dr. Villanueva now leads URMC's General Neurology Division, with a clinical practice that focuses on the full range of neurologic disorders. She has established herself as a national leader in neurology practice, being appointed in 2013 to the American Academy of Neurology's Practice Committee. In addition to her clinical work and leadership responsibilities, she is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and advanced clinical fellows.
