Ms. tenHoopen has worked at the University of Rochester Medical Center since 2005 and has worked as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP)/Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Child Neurology since 2010. She primarily sees patients who are referred for evaluation and management of headaches and concussion. She also functions as the APP for the Pediatric Neuro-Immunology Clinic, caring for pediatric patients with diagnoses including Multiple Sclerosis, Optic Neuritis, Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis, and Transverse Myelitis.

Ms. tenHoopen was promoted to APP Lead for Child Neurology in September 2020. She has direct responsibility for managing RNs and APPs within the division. She assists with Child Neurology team meetings, onboarding new APPs and RNs, interfaces in 1:1 meetings with individual APPs and RNs and provides support for APP and RN annual evaluations.

Ms. tenHoopen has been a member of the American Headache Society, the American Academy of Neurology, and the Association of Child Neurology Nurses. She is also an active participant of the Association of Child Neurology Nurses Award Committee.

Ms. tenHoopen is a Clinical Associate at the University of Rochester School of Nursing. She provides education and lectures on Pediatric Headaches and Concussion at local, regional, and national conferences and also locally to Nurse Practitioner students. She acts as a clinical preceptor for Nurse Practitioner students who are studying at the University of Rochester School of Nursing.

Ms. tenHoopen provides care to her patients in the outpatient clinical setting and also provides management by telephone and patient portal to address questions and concerns that arise between appointments.
