Dr. Vavrina's choice to be a family physician lies in her unyielding conviction that providing primary care entails knowing the entire story and understanding patients as individuals and treating them as such. Each patient has his/her own beliefs, values, culture and family. She believes it's her responsibility to treat patients within the context of their own life style. She strives to partner with her patients to provide a "whole-person" approach to diagnosis, treatment and care.
She enjoys providing care for her patients of all ages with a special interest in adolescent health, women's health and sports medicine. Dr. Vavrina also practices osteopathic manipulative medicine, which is a form of "hands on" medical diagnosis and treatment of a variety of ailments based on an in-depth understanding of the musculoskeletal, circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems.
On a personal note, Dr. Vavrina enjoys the greater Rochester area with her husband and children. She takes great pride that she grew up in Rochester and plans to raise her children in the same community. She loves being outdoors, cooking and drawing/crafting.

She is very nice, but she speeds through the appointment kind of fast, she didn't remember I came in for a problem, which caused me to change prescriptions, she didn't remember or talk about how she referred me to PT last visit and didn't ask how that went. Only saw her about 6 months prior. But needs to not rush through so fast when seeing patients, I don't just want to be thrown into another medication, healthcare is just turning into pharmacy reps it feels like

She even remembered things about visits we had over a year ago, showing that she truly cares about her patients. My experience is that Im always leaving with the feeling that the visit is perfunctory. Wellness /physicals are superficial. Provider cant provide some services I need in a primary care physician so must seek care elsewhere in addition to my visit.

I came to the office as a follow-up to a recent hospital stay and she answered any questions I had about my lab results from the hospital as well as listened with empathy to additional concerns I had. This was actually my first visit with Nicole Vavrina. My previous UoR doctor was Dr. Marianne Taylor, who evidently left the UoR system, so both my wife and I were transferred to Nicole Vavrina, OD. We both were always very happy with Dr. Taylor, but this move was very well coordinated and a very smooth transition. My wife still has yet to have her first visit with Dr. Nicole Vavrina, but I am sure she will be very happy with our new primary care physician, Dr. Nicole Vavrina.

In all sincerity dr vavrina likely saved my life as I was dealing with an infection she told me what to watch out for regarding signs of [...] given my condition. My specialist ignored worsening symptoms but I remembered dr vavrina's stern advice, called the office and went to the ED where I was diagnosed with [...] but recovered quickly and was discharged (this visit was post discharge follow up). Dr Vavrina has always been awesome listening to my complicated history but this time more so and continues to be.

All staff at Bushnell's Basin were great! Dr. Vavrina is awesome and demonstrates she really care about her patients. I have referred friends/colleagues to her, and those who were fortunate to get on her schedule have expressed the same. I am lucky that I am in Dr. Vavrina's care.

Give the docs more time to spend with their patients. Dr V does a good job of keeping it from feeling like she is rushed but I know she is to some extent.

I love Dr. Vavrina. She is the absolute best. Prior to having her, I never felt comfortable with a PCP. I recommend her to everyone I know. I truly believe she cares. All of the staff are wonderful as well.

My experience with Dr. Vavrina and all the staff is always very positive. I prepare ahead with my personal concerns written out. When I leave, I am quite aware that my mood is greatly improved, I am uplifted as my questions were answered, I have a direction to pursue and all I have just been in contact with have helped me personally.

I will miss Barb who retired as a receptionist last week but feel that all front desk, nurses and Dr. Vavrina are deserving of individual special recognition. They take great care of me as if I were part of their family. How could I want more?
