Dr. Nathaniel Bayer is committed to delivering comprehensive, high-quality care to hospitalized children and their families. He is also a dedicated researcher, working to improve family-centered care and caregiver health by enhancing caregiver peer and emotional support. One of his primary passions is taking care of children with complex medical problems who require extensive family support, coordination, and partnership across multiple sub-specialties and care systems.

Dr. Nathaniel Bayer's research goal is to enhance caregiver adaptation to improve the health of caregivers and children with medical complexity. He seeks to understand the health of children with complex medical problems, including children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, from a family context. He is studying the family, community, and health system factors that support caregiver and children’s quality of life and wellbeing. He is committed to incorporating humanistic and biopsychosocial principles into his research efforts. He is currently developing and testing a caregiver peer and emotional support intervention to improve caregiver well-being.
