My research focuses on developing and implementing behavioral and supportive care interventions, facilitated by digital health technologies, to improve outcomes for older adults with hematologic malignancies These interventions include a Serious Illness Care Program delivered via telehealth to facil...
My research focuses on developing and implementing behavioral and supportive care interventions, facilitated by digital health technologies, to improve outcomes for older adults with hematologic malignancies These interventions include a Serious Illness Care Program delivered via telehealth to facilitate serious illness conversations, a decisional intervention to faciltiate shared decision making in acute myeloid leukemia, and a mobile health exercise intervention to reduce functional decline during cancer treatments. I utilize qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method research methodologies. I have extensive experience recruiting older adults with cancer, their caregivers, and healthcare professionals across my research studies, including from both academic and community oncology settings. I am also expert in geriatric assessment and patient-reported outcomes. I have received a National Cancer Institute (NCI) K99/R00, NCI R01, National Institute of Aging (NIA) R03 GEMSSTAR, American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Career Development Award, and Wilmot Cancer Institute Research Fellowship Award. I have also received several other grants including an NCI administrative supplement, Cancer and Aging Research Group Pilot Award, American Cancer Society Pilot Award in Palliative Care, and Wilmot and University of Rochester Aging Institute Pilot Award.
I have published over 190 peer-reviewed articles and presented over 150 oral and poster presentations. I have also received >30 research and travel awards, including the American Society for Clinical Investigation Young Physician-Scientist Award.
This research study is evaluating whether primary palliative care is an alternative strategy to specialty palliative care for improving quality of life, symptoms, mood, coping, and end of life outcomes in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

Dr. Loh provided and excellent overview and treatment options for my cancer. She spent much more time explaining that I expected she would. She provided not only abundant knowledge, but also caring, and patience. I could not have expected a better experience. This meeting, therefore, gives me confidence in any eventual treatment.

Dr. Loh was exceptional in listening to our concerns, explaining AOL and the treatments and not giving us information we didn't really want.
