Dr. Jenkins is a graduate of Brown University (BA) and Eastern Virginia Medical School (MD). She completed a combined internal medicine and pediatrics (Med-Peds) residency training, chief residency, and a three-year Med-Peds hospital medicine fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and University of Cincinnati Medical Centers. She was also a National Research Service Award fellow at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She received her Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research through the University of Cincinnati in 2020. Upon completion of her fellowship, she joined faculty at the University of Rochester as a Med-Peds hospitalist and health services researcher in the divisions of adult hospital medicine, pediatric hospital medicine, and transitional care.

Dr. Jenkins broad research interests include improving patient care in complex healthcare systems by including all key stakeholders in problem identification, intervention design, and implementation. As a Med-Peds hospitalist, Dr. Jenkins has a special interest in improving equitable healthcare access and delivery for adolescents and young adults with chronic conditions of childhood such as sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis, and congenital heart disease, as they transition from pediatric to adult healthcare.
