I rarely fill out surveys any more, but I made an exception for Dr. Hoyson. He is genuinely plugged in to his patients, actively listens, explains thoroughly in plain language and ramps it up to any level of complexity I need or want. He is animated and fun. This is great medicine. He is the BEST.

Dr. Hoyson is the best care provider I have ever had. He listens to be and makes me feel seen and heard. He has such a light happy attitude and he shows genuine interest, respect and compassion. In my humble opinion I feel he is a pillar excellence in this field and he should be the model that all medical professionals strive to achieve. I have worked in the medical field since my teens and I have seen my fair share of unprofessional providers and providers who are doctors because the are interested in just medicine and interested in helping people. I cannot sing enough praise about Dr. Hoyson. I know that when I see him, all of my needs will be discussed and we always leave with a game plan.

Very good provider. I feel nervous about taking medications and he has worked with me to make sure I understand the implications of each one and makes sure they are all within my comfortability. I also don't like new medications so he makes sure to recommend ones that have been around for a long time. Very good listener and makes me feel I'm in control of my care.

Dr Hoyson is the best doctor I have ever had. You cant help feel better from the moment he walks in because he's so upbeat and he's always smiling. He makes you feel important. He doesn't rush, he listens, and he explains everything in a way thats easy to understand. The only negative was that I never got any follow-up on all the bloodwork he sent me for. I completely trust Dr. Hoyson.

This doctor recognized that I was so depressed that I couldn't stop crying - I was like this for about 3 weeks - He asked me questions about my mental state & once satisfied that I was not suicidal, got up, put his arms around me & hugged me & let me cry on his shoulder! I felt better & learned people of all ages need to be hugged! What a great doctor!!

This doctor I believe is competent but he does not respond to MyChart emails and OFTEN does not read them carefully requiring me to have to reask him in a follow up email. I do not feel he is prepared for our appointments having thoroughly read my latest blood work or chart. I've been with U of R for many many years. I have probably 7 Strong doctors for many conditions. He is the first in over 10 years I don't feel confident with because of his lack of attention to detail. I would rather see his PA. She is always prepared and formulates a game plan. I am looking for a new office because of him. He may be a great physician, he has a great bed side manner, but I worry he will miss something because of his lack of attention to detail. It has been very disappointing because I have always worked well with my drs. I feel we are partners. As my pcp he should act as almost a case manager for my ailments. That is how all my past PCP drs were. He is not. I'm not confident in him because of these reasons.

Dr. Hoyson is great. He addresses my questions/concerns efficiently, and in an informed manner (uses UpToDate to verify Info as needed). Importantly, he's amenable to maintaining and/or changing meds/treatment plan. To me, a willingness to keep things as they are or change them demonstrates a great provider.

Over the Christmas holiday I came down with Covid. I contacted my Doctor Who proceeded to tell me they were no known/approved treatments for COVID-19. I know that is in accurate. After further investigation, it was determined that the head of you are medical systems put out a note telling all of the doctors the responses they should give regarding COVID-19 treatment. I could not have been more disappointed in the hospitals approach.In fact, I left my existing Doctor Who seemed to parrot the "party line". I do not go to a doctor to hear a party line, but rather to discuss my health issues with the doctor and determine a treatment plan.Frankly, I tried to find an independent doctor but could not do so. I then changed to another doctor in the UR system . I am hoping he will be more independent in his thought and try to treat patients rather than listen to the party line of the hospital.I would strongly urge the UR management team to again review the Hippocratic oath and keeping the patient's best interest ahead of all other things.

I do not feel this provider does his "homework" before appointments. I feel he is either overworked or too much paperwork or patients but this is a pattern. He often doesn't really review medical tests like blood work or that he skims it. I have to bring up concerns about abnormal tests. I also feel like he doesn't coordinate my other medical issues with specialists and does not understand my other medical issues like oncology, Gastrointerologist etc. [...]

My experience was GREAT, because GOD & Doc M. Hoyson; his team. I'd like to ADD, Dr. M. Hoyson had never seen me before this illness (CORONA) I was/am a new patient. He accepted me as if he had known me. Whenever I called. Many times, he or staff would ALWAUS return the calls right away.

IMy first visit.with Dr. Hoyson was in August 2021. At that time he was well informed of all my medical problems. He is genuinely concerned. I have a pain in my right side that comes and goes. He immediately had concerns because I have diverticulosis. He remembered I had this condition. Ii like him very much.
