My current practice provides diagnoses of disability and functional changes and their implications in patients with musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. This very diverse group includes patients with musculoskeletal disorders (lower back and neck pain, scoliosis, and rotator cuff tendonitis), degenerative disease (disc herniation, neck pain, arthritis, rheumatologic, and osteoarthritis), neurological disorders (myelopathy, cerebral palsy, Parkinson, stroke, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), and sport and tactical injury-related (ACL reconstruction, Achilles tendonitis, concussion, acute low back pain, shoulder instability, and overuse strains). In addition to my broad training in human biomechanics, I have also completed specialized training in human motion analysis, including Electromyography (EMG), Electroencephalogram (EEG), and wearable analyses, along with patient balance and posture.

I received multiple international and national awards for my research work. Moreover, a world-renowned and innovative method I developed allows patients' balance and compensation to be quantified using the Cone of Economy method and classification system. I have spent the last 10 years working with large Orthopaedics and Neurosurgical practices. Before joining the faculty of the University of Rochester, I founded and built the Spinal Biomechanics Laboratory at the Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas. This is the first spine-related human movement biomechanics lab to be incorporated within a US hospital system.

My diverse educational background includes a Ph.D. in Clinical Biomechanics, a Master's in Mechanical Engineering, and an MBA in Operations Management. I am an active member of multiple professional organizations including: the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, North American Spine Society, the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, AO Spine, Orthopaedic Research Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society of Biomechanics, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society.

My research is dedicated to improving the care of patients with musculoskeletal and neurological pathologies as well as their sequelae. My work tends to highlight the respective impacts of conservative and surgical interventions on a patient’s quality of life, pain levels, psychosocial factors, and even function. Moreover, my research is capable of analyzing risk factors associated with neurological, neuromuscular, and structural disorders in order to develop more effective treatments. I have a strong track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters and I present study findings at national and international meetings. I am currently serving as a peer reviewer on the panels for multiple journals. I have shown competency working with patients with neurological, neuromuscular and structural disorders. In addition to this, I have worked closely with patients suffering from cancer, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular and many other conditions. Optimal patient outcomes using my skill set is my passion. I feel that this can be accomplished through the identification, application, and dissemination of evidence-based research and education.
