I am a board-certified pediatrician and fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. I earned my Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry after receiving my Bachelor's degree in biochemistry/molecular biology from Hamilton College. I completed my Pediatric internship and residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Following residency, I was selected to serve as Pediatric Chief Resident of the University of Rochester Pediatric Residency Program where I was involved in the teaching and supervision of pediatric residents. Prior to joining Perinton Pediatrics, I worked as a pediatrician at the Golisano Children’s Hospital Pediatric Practice.
Philosophy:
I value the importance of building strong relationships with children and their families to help each child reach their fullest potential. Excellent health care requires a partnership where all voices are valued and heard - it is my goal to engage in shared decision-making that includes both the child and their parents/guardians in determining a medical plan that is appropriate, understood, and agreed upon. I am interested in helping children and their families understand the details of their health care, as well as providing education in a developmentally and age-appropriate manner so children can gradually take ownership of their health care to prepare them for when they transition to being an adult.
Special Interests:
My interests include providing general pediatric care and preventative care to patients from birth through adolescence. I enjoy assisting breastfeeding parents with achieving their breastfeeding goals and helping new parents navigate the adventure of parenthood.
On a Personal Note:
I enjoy spending time with my husband and son outdoors - we love going to the beach, spending time in the finger lakes, and hiking or taking walks in parks. Most days, you can find me on a local playground. I also play on a local ultimate frisbee team.
Honors and Awards:
Hoekelman Award (June 2022) – presented to the graduating resident who holds the greatest promise for success as a primary care practitioner.
Certificate of Completion of the CARE (Community Health and Advocacy Resident Education) track (June 2022)– Advocacy project: Improving Education and Access to Breastfeeding in Minority Populations of Rochester.
