Dr. Gugger is Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Rochester. He specializes in the treatment of epilepsy in adults with expertise in antiseizure medication management as well as surgical management of drug-resistant epilepsy.

Dr. Gugger is Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Rochester. He specializes in the treatment of epilepsy in adults with expertise in antiseizure medication management as well as surgical management of drug-resistant epilepsy.
Prior to medical training, Dr. Gugger earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and went on to a clinical faculty position at St. John’s University College of Pharmacy. He attended medical school at SUNY Downstate, completed his Neurology training at Johns Hopkins and Epilepsy training at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to his appointment at the University of Rochester he was Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.

Dr. Gugger is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Rochester with clinical expertise in both epilepsy and traumatic brain injury. His lab is focused on the use quantitative brain imaging to improve our understanding of neurological disorders, including epilepsy and traumatic brain injury.
Dr. Gugger is a clinician researcher coming to us from UPenn with expertise and research interests in neuroimaging biomarkers in epilepsy and TBI. His current work is support by an NIH K23 award and grants from the DoD. He is scheduled to start 9/1 but will spending most of his initial first months starting up his research lab. He will also have an adult epilepsy clinic at BLDG F and will be spending a few weeks per year on the EMU and consult EEG services.
