Dr. Smith is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She is a Clinical Instructor in Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester School of Medicine . She attended Gannon University where she completed the Physician Assistant program. She subsequently graduated from University of Maryland (Summa Cum Laude) and completed her residency at the University of Rochester .

She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (the national medical honor society) and the Monroe County Medical Society.

Dr. Smith is one of the local experts on Punxsutawney Phil and she is an avid supporter of her church, helping them construct a church in Chile, South America.
