The provider would periodically talk over me when, wouldn't let me finish my whole thought. I would get irritated and out of principle I would continue to talk, while he was talking to. He always won in the end though.

The provider seemed a little more patient than in the past. Still talked a mile a minute, but didn't totally seem like he wanted to be done with me in order to get to the next person. I believe a new person seeing him for the first/second/third time might think so, due to his extreme "efficiency", but having him as a provider for my adult years, I can recognize the small change. I don't know if it was just the day, but I'll see what next time brings. He's so go go go, that at least you're not embarrassed when you bring things up because you know it won't last long. He'll address it to the degree it needs addressing, typically by his standards and be onto the next, then that'll be that. Nothing seems to hit deeper than surface level. I usually walk out, feeling like I've been in a tornado, and then I have to digest what was said. He is efficient though, and does have much knowledge to stand behind.

I was spoken to, provider takes control, and is rigid, only on his schedule. It was more a one-sided conversation. Rushed, feel as though I cannot discuss all I want/need to. Don't feel as though I can express true feelings, concerns, because they will be discounted or I'll be told to make another appointment to discuss. The appointments are whirlwinds, and I walk out wondering if what I needed was actually addressed.

Having had the same PCP for over 40 years and needing a new one as he had left the practice, there were many sleepless nights as to who would be my new PCP. Having worked in the medical field for many years, meeting Dr. Papa as my new PCP with his team was a WOW !!!! I finally was able to have a great night's sleep. My husband [...] and I were able to be seen together and it showed his empathy and working from a treatment team model. His clinical assessment skills with treatment recommendations were spot on: very thorough and never felt rushed , all the while documenting as needed. Was very creative in lowering my white coat blood pressure by thirty points by having me with continued laughing during the session and shooting me up with two boosters: he needs to take his show to town. He truly Is a mentor to all. We feel very blessed and fortunate to have been able to become part of his practice. Dr. Papa is great and I respect that he's well known in the community and I am proud that he is my PCP. I wouldn't want to change that because he is a brilliant doctor and I feel good that I'm under his care. However, he's often very rushed and can sometimes come across as curt and it makes me feel he does not care nor take anything I say about my personal health seriously. I may be notifying him of an issue just to let him know in case there is cause for concern. I don't always need a solution but sometimes need reassurance it's nothing serious. I sometimes leave visits with him feeling upset by the way he reacted, or that I forgot to tell him something cause it all goes so fast or I didn't get to explain myself fully and he misunderstood my intent, or just that he didn't listen to what's really going on, and only addressed on the surface. [...] On the other hand, sometimes he is uplifting, funny, sincere, and friendly, but always fast moving and in a rush. I understand there are a lot of patients but I don't visit often so when I do there's typically a valid reason.

Slow Dr. Papa down. He is outstanding but he appears to be rushing. I understand he is under tremendous pressure and he does his job excellently, but some patients feel rushed ( perhaps unavoidably due to the work load).

Dr. Papa, is highly efficient and strict to follow the office procedure, yet he lacks bedside manner. I have been a patient of his since I transitioned out of pediatric care, I am 34yrs old now. I have stuck with Dr. Papa, although I had attempted to switch primary doctors at one point, because he is a highly knowledgeable doctor and I trust him in what he says. He hasn't steered me wrong, but he rarely listens to my personal concern. He listens to me, my questions and addresses it In his way, but the empathy is not there. No connection, no human feeling behind any transaction. It's like a robot spitting out information, controlling the clock, and walking out while you're sitting there mid-sentence. [...] I truly think Dr. Papa is a dedicated and knowledgeable doctor, and I have seen his softer side once or twice in the past, yet the way he conquers the appointments has become a bit much. [...]

Dr. Papa needs to update and reform his ideas about weight loss. The advice he gives is scientifically out-of-date. He advises calorie counting, and the scientific knowledge these days is that calories are always mislabeled on foods, and misleading. Also he preached low-fat diet, which I have found to exacerbate my obesity, but furthermore the latest scientific evidence doesn't support that approach anymore. My recent weight loss and gain experiences match this evidence better.
