I am the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator and the Interim Operational Manager for Critical Care and Emergency Medicine Services at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC)-Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. The URMC is a large academic medical center with over 100 intensive care unit beds and 112,000 annual ED visits. I was previously the medical ICU pharmacist at the same institution for 13 years and still serve as the primary preceptor and program director for our PGY-2 critical care residency program. I hold several leadership positions both internal and external to my primary department (Pharmacy). Specifically related to critical care, I am an active member of the URMC Critical Care Quality Council where I develop and present guidelines and protocols as well as discuss any safety or quality issues related to pharmacotherapy best practices. I also serve on several other institutional multidisciplinary critical care committees including the MICU Steering Committee, Intensive Care Patient Safety Rounds Committee, Pulmonary Embolism Response Team Committee, and the Sepsis Lean Team Workgroup. Recently, I was tasked to lead a multidisciplinary workgroup to improve the management and prevention of delirium in the ICU, as well as serve as a team leader to establish a post-intensive care unit clinic which I also staff monthly. Nationally I am a member of ACCP and SCCM where I am the chair of the ACCP Critical Care PRN Recognition Committee and Vice-Chair of the SCCM CPP Practice Advancement Committee.
