New data streams and technological advances provide unprecedented insight into behaviors and disease. In his early research career, Dr. Hasselberg investigated the use of novel remote monitoring technology to study circadian rhythm dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease. In 2014, he was funded to bring the first Project ECHO® (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) teleconsultation program to New York State and has been a driver to the dissemination of the model across the State. He has researched the cost-effectiveness of teleconsultation and has served on the Department of Health & Human Services Technical Expert Panel for the ECHO ACT. Building off of Project ECHO, Dr. Hasselberg has developed several telehealth models, which have been replicated throughout the United States. In his role as the Co-director of the UR Health Lab, he has secured grant funding to further transform care delivery through the use of web-based chat bot applications, smartphone mobile applications, virtual and augmented reality technologies, and the use of artificial intelligence in the electronic health record.
