Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Ryan attended college at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and subsequently earned her M.D. at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics (Med-Peds) in June 2015, and was the Chief Resident for the Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program from June 2015 - June 2016. Currently, Dr. Ryan lives in the Rochester area with her husband Rob and enjoys running, biking, reading, and being outdoors.

I'll keep it brief, but Dr. Ryan (who is not my typical provider, as mine is out on maternity leave) handled my medical concern with compassion and dedication. She listened, encouraged me to be a good medical & behavioral historian so that my concern could be realistically addressed. I felt heard, seen and cared for. I am hesitant sometimes about the healthcare industry in general, and the providers at this practice have ALWAYS made me feel safe, welcomed, and supported. Past month has been very challenging with sibling crisis. Dr. Ryan listened carefully and with concern. She asked about current med dosages and made adjustments accordingly. In addition she lead the appt with how well she felt my bloodwork results were and took time to explain the different values and their significance. In addition, said that given the stressful situation the results were even more surprising. We discussed ways to cope in light of health, monitoring diet, hydration, exercise and boundaries.

We discussed the Rxn for Metformin that was prescribed when I had a TKR in Florida. Prior to leaving for Florida, Dr Ryan and I discussed if it was time for me to start taking a medication for Type II diabetes. I indicated I wanted to wait until my next A1C test and try to manage with diet and exercise. The hospitalist assigned to me in Florida recommended I start the metformin as my Blood Glucose was significantly outside the normal range. Dr Ryan was pleased with my blood test results from labs ordered prior to this visit. We discussed pros & cons of other mediations and ultimately agreed to stay on the metformin until additional testing is done in 3 months and I have my next visit.

I was given an appointment with Dr. Ryan the same morning I contacted the office. Dr. Ryan spent the time with me she felt was necessary, and she thoroughly went over my current issues and medications. She had a referral for me to have an ultrasound during that visit and I had the procedure done the same day.

I could not ask for a better PCP than Dr. Ryan. Se is the most caring, thoughtful and thorough doctor I have ever had. She leaves no stone unturned when looking for a diagnosis and treatment. She not only listens to you when you talk, she retains the information you give her and uses it to help determine how to best treat you. She is easy to talk to because you can tell that she cares and I never feel rushed. If I have to wait a few extra minutes for her to get to the exam room, I know it's because se is giving someone else the same care that I get and everyone deserves that.

I messaged my provider with a question about my elevated blood pressure. Within a few minutes I got a call from the office to schedule an immediate appointment to be seen. Dr. Anne Bowman Ryan is not my PCP, but I found her to be not only very pleasant, but extremely helpful and thorough. I was seen within an hour and a half from the time of my message. That is impressive. I have been a patient of Dr. Macphee for probably 20 years now, and I can't imagine having a better doctor.

Any messages I sent were answered promptly by Dr. Ryan or a staff member. She followed up with a referral to see an urgent care orthopedic PA because of my injury possibly affecting upcoming travel. I appreciated her understanding and listening to my concerns.

This was the 1st time I had seen Dr. Ryan. She is as kind, caring, and thorough as my regular pcp, Dr. McPhee. Both of them are wonderful physicians who care about their patients and their health. Any visit to that office is a comfortable experience, especially for those who may have anxiety about going to the doctor's. You never feel rushed when you are with them and know that they are listening to any concerns you might have.
