Dr. Bessette is a skilled and caring physician specializing in the practice of medical retina and uveitis. She completed her medical degree at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons and a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Rochester Flaum Eye Institute. She continued her training at the Cleveland Clinic's Cole Eye Institute. There she completed two fellowships: the first in medical retina and uveitis and a second, more intensive, fellowship in uveitis. Dr. Bessette's research interests include imaging neovascularization associated with the retina and posterior segment disease.

As a medical retina specialist, she diagnoses and treats a variety of conditions. As a uveitis specialist, she provides care to adult and juvenile patients suffering from inflammatory disease to the front and rear parts of the eye. Some of the conditions she routinely treats are:

• Diabetic eye disease
• Inherited retinal disease
• Uveitis
• Ocular complications of Sarcoidosis
• Ocular toxoplasmosis
• Cataracts
