I am part of the team who takes care of hospitalized children; this team includes physicians, nurses, other hospital staff, the patient and their family. I strive to communicate with the patient and family in layman terms so that everyone involved understands what is happening with the patient. We push to "safely do less", remembering that the patient, no matter the disease severity or complexity, is a child and the most important person in the room.
