He chose to enter the field of General Medicine because he is interested in many aspects of Medicine and values the strong relationships that can be formed between patients and their primary care doctor. Dr. Hodges believes the patient/physician relationship is the foundation of Primary Care. It allows the physician to individualize patient care and guide them through the healthcare system.
Dr. Hodges has special interests in preventive medicine, hypertension and diagnosing medical conditions.

Dr. Hodges is, no question, the best and smartest PCP I have had in my life. He thinks fast (and types fast), asks intelligent questions, actually integrates the answers into his assessment and the discussion. Unlike with almost every other medical provider with whom I have interacted, I do not get the sense that he is looking to slot my question neatly into some predefined category from which the answer will spit out, he's actually thinking about what is asked, integrating it with what he knows both about medicine and about me, and then answering the actual question at a level that is targeted to my level of knowledge.

Dr. Hodges, I'm sorry to say I don't recall the other people's names from the receptionist and the nurse/med tech who took care of me, but the records should help identify them. Everyone did an excellent job. I'm a fairly new patient to this practice after spending more than 30 years with Dr. Kerper, who is, in my opinion, the gold standard that every PCP should emulate. I'm confident Dr. Hodges has all the critical attributes to meet those standards.

Dr. Hodges was very concerned about my pulse rate and BP and my specific medications. He ordered an EKG to ensure there weren't any anomalies that might need the attention of the ED. He adjusted some of my doses when they looked OK, and we discussed ongoing home monitoring of my BP and HR and using MyChart to keep him informed.

Dr. Hodges care is exceptional and well beyond any other care I have sought in the URMC system. Usual treatment is at best mediocre with high levels of difficulty accessing - including long waits until appointments, even longer waits to schedule procedures, sudden unexplained cancellations after long waits for the procedures. I have had several experiences in which I had to contact patient relations to get needed treatment in a timely way. Dr. Hodges is exceptional in responsiveness, attention to concerns and thoroughness in assessments. Given how many providers come and go in the URMC system...I am amazed that Dr. Hodges continues on as a PCP in the system.

I find ALL your doctors focus the appointments typing and reading their computers... Sometimes I feel we could have the appointment on the phone or zoom. I know they need to record what is being said, planned etc. However, what happened to the "physical" checkup. Basically Dr H just listened to my heart and breathing,

The receptionist was very pleasant. Dr. Hodges was very focused on determining what my issue might be, explaining his thinking as he went along. I thought that approach was excellent-- very comprehensive, very clear for me and solid next steps which lead to a prompt diagnosis. He then stayed in timely communication with me as the treatment played out.

Truly, nothing could improve it. I have the utmost respect for Dr. Hodges. My family and I are extremely fortunate to have him as our primary care physician. He is very caring and extremely thorough.
