Nicotine & Tobacco Treatment Collaborative
Housed within the Department of Public Health Sciences, the Nicotine & Tobacco Treatment Collaborative offers cessation treatment programs serving a 27-County area in New York State.
The Collaborative includes the following:
- Wilmot Cancer Institute (WCI) (Jonathan Friedberg, M.D., M.Sc., Director)
- Offers free text-message and telephone-based cessation program with individual counseling
- Offers 10 weeks of free Nicotine Replacement Therapy
- Available in English or Spanish, led by cessation experts
- Center for Community Health and Prevention (Edith Williams, Ph.D., Director)
- Offers ongoing group cessation programs for adults
- Offers web-based group cessation for teens
- Well-U sponsors You Can Quit - with professional quit coaches to help staff quit smoking or vaping
- Community Outreach and Engagement Program (Paula Cupertino, Ph.D., Director)
- Free "Promote Health" classes for healthy living, to empower participants to make and maintain lifestyle changes that help lower their risk of cancer and other chronic diseases.
- Offers Lung Cancer Screening, Mammography and other related resources
- The New York State Quitline and Quitsite
- Offers free Nicotine Replacement Therapy and one-on-one telephone counseling
- Web-based support includes information about vaping, and support for parents
These programs offer evidence-based cessation services for members of the community, to stop smoking and vaping, within a 27-County catchment-area in New York State.
