SEMINARS

Looking for upcoming seminars presented by the Flow Core? Perhaps you are looking for a seminar in the recent past so you can review something that was presented? Look no further!

Upcoming Seminars & Events

The Center for Advanced Research Technologies Flow Cytometry Resource invites you to two special events on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025.

Morning Session – Memorial Symposium for Dr. Leon Wheeless
We begin the day by honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Leon Wheeless, emeritus professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, who passed away last April. Dr. Wheeless made pioneering contributions to slit-scanning cytometry and developed one of the earliest imaging flow cytometers—innovations that continue to shape the field today. Join us as former colleagues, collaborators, and students share reflections on his remarkable career and enduring impact.

Afternoon Session – Cytek Seminar on Imaging and Spectral Cytometry
After lunch, representatives from Cytek will present a series of talks highlighting the capabilities of the ImageStream and Spectral Cytometry platforms. Discover how imaging flow cytometry can support and enhance your research. We are also pleased to welcome back Jason Emo, a former URMC researcher, who will discuss building spectral flow panels and leveraging Cytek’s Autofluorescence (AF) Explorer to extract multiple autofluorescent signals from your data.

Cytek Office Hours – April 23
To provide personalized support, Cytek Applications Scientists will be available for one-on-one consultations in the Flow Core on Wednesday, April 23rd. This is an excellent opportunity to have your specific questions about Imaging and Spectral Cytometry addressed directly. To schedule a session, please email FCRScheduling@urmc.rochester.edu with your top three preferred times, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Registration and Event Details
To assist us in planning, especially for lunch, please register your attendance by completing the registration form. If the link does not work, please copy and paste the following URL into your browser: https://tinyurl.com/FCRWheeless.

We look forward to welcoming you on Monday, April 22nd, starting at 9:00 AM, in the Lower Adolph Auditorium (Room 1-7619) at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

We hope you’ll join us for a meaningful day of remembrance and discovery.

Thinkcyte VisionSort powered by Ghost Cytometry
True Innovation in Cell Analysis & Sorting - Drive Discovery with VisionSort
This is new cell sorting technology that uses mostly label free AI driven morphological profiling to identify and sort cells.  The system does also have 5 fluorescence parameters and scatter to help confirm phenotype, but once morphological profiling is established it can also be run completely label free when desired.
