Philip Templeton, MD - Founding Benefactor

Dr. Templeton is a 1982 graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and a founding benefactor of the Rochester Center for Health Informatics.  Dr. Templeton is a highly successful health informatics entrepreneur, founding several medical information technology companies, and former Chief of Radiology at the University of Maryland. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the X10SYS Database Corporation, which makes a high performance associative database storage system.  His generous support was instrumental in establishing the RCHI.

“I have decided to give back to the University that has played an important part in my career and life,” said Templeton. He has donated $250,000 to support the Rochester Center for Health Informatics (RCHI), which is closely aligned with the University’s Institute for Data Science. “I believe the University is poised to be a national leader in health informatics,” he said. “The Medical Center and University are now involved in a tremendous new data initiative applied to medical problems and questions. I hope that my gift will serve as a foundation for new discovery and applications to better understand and solve complex problems in health care.”
