Continuing Education

Welcome to the URMC Sovie Institute for Advanced Practice Education Center. We support the Sovie Institutes’s role in URMC’s teaching and learning missions by coordinating educational activities across URMC and support APPs in meeting professional development goals, including continuing education for improving practice, teaching and precepting roles, and maintaining compliance with credentialing and national certification requirements.

The Sovie Education Committee is composed of acute, primary, and specialty care representatives from multiple inpatient and outpatient settings. This group meets quarterly to collaborate on identifying knowledge gaps and organizing educational offerings for APPs, including one-hour meetings, online self-directed activities, and conferences.

Committee members work closely with our accredited providers of continuing education to certify our activities for CNE or CME, including The University of Rochester Center for Nursing Professional Development (an approved provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation) and the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry (accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
