Advanced Postdoctoral Dental Education and Residency Programs
Our alumni are from all around the world!
The Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester is unique among academic health centers in the United States: despite the absence of an undergraduate dental school, we have internationally recognized dental residency programs, vibrant oral biology research in the top tier of NIDCR rankings, and robust clinical services in most dental specialties.
We offer seven Postdoctoral Dental Education and Residency Training Programs leading to a Certificate of Advanced Study or a Certificate of Completion in the respective program. Several programs of two- and three-year duration offer an additional educational tract leading to a Master of Science in Dental Sciences.
Our robust clinical training programs offer residents the opportunity to gain practical experience in a group practice environment providing oral health care to a diverse body of patients. Residents working alongside teams of highly trained general and specialist dentists, hygienists and assistants, and other healthcare professionals. Residents also have the opportunity to participate in rotations, public and community health-related activities and additional supplemental, advanced clinical experiences developed by the programs. At the conclusion of training, residents are prepared for careers in specialty practice, as well as advanced general dentistry, research, and education.
The Postdoctoral Dental Education and Residency Training Programs at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health are accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and have been granted the accreditation status of approval without reporting requirements. The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. The Commission on Dental Accreditation can be contacted at 312-440-4653, 211 East Chicago Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611 or www.ada.org.
