Preceptorship Opportunities

The Preceptorship Program at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health is an immersive opportunity for dentists seeking to enhance their clinical expertise through a balanced combination of didactic learning and hands-on experience. Participants will engage in a broad range of educational activities, including seminars, workshops, conferences, and research projects, all designed to refine their skills and knowledge in the field of dentistry.

The program offers 4, 6, 11, and 12-month preceptorships in the following specialized areas:

  • General Dentistry
  • Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (11 and 12 months only)
  • Periodontics
  • Prosthodontics

Additionally, an integrated MS Degree Program is available, which is specifically designed for dental graduates from outside the U.S. and Canada. This intensive 24-month program combines study, research, and clinical observation, providing a comprehensive experience.

Program Highlights

As a participant in the preceptorship, you will:

  • Observe Clinical Practices: Gain firsthand experience in daily clinical operations at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health.
  • Assist Chairside: Alongside our residents and faculty, learn essential dental skills in a real-world clinical setting.
  • Enroll in Graduate-Level Courses: Participate in courses taken by first-year residents, deepening your theoretical and practical knowledge of dentistry.
  • Visa Sponsorship: International applicants requiring visa sponsorship will be provided the necessary documentation to apply for an F-1 Student Visa.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Preceptorship Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Requirements: Applicants must have completed a dental degree (D.D.S., D.M.D., or an equivalent international degree) prior to applying.
  • Minimum GPA: A minimum GPA of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale is required.
  • English Proficiency: Non-native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency by submitting a TOEFL iBT score of 85 or higher, taken within two years of the application date.

Admissions Requirements

To apply for the Preceptorship Program, applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Application Form
  • Three Letters of Recommendation
  • Curriculum Vitae/Resume
  • Personal Statement
  • Official Transcripts
  • WES ICAP Evaluation (for transcripts from institutions outside the U.S. and Canada)
  • TOEFL Score (85 or higher, taken within the last two years, if applicable; School code: 9487)
  • Non-refundable $195 Application Fee

Application Deadlines

  • January 1: For a July 1 start date (applicable to 6-month, 11-month, and 12-month preceptorships)
  • August 1: For a January 1 start date (applicable to 6-month preceptorships)

Program Tuition

  • 6-Month Preceptorship: $24,800
  • 11-Month Preceptorship: $33,480
  • 12-Month Preceptorship: $37,200

Additional Expenses

Applicants should note that scholarships and financial assistance for preceptorships are not available. It is important to plan for the following expenses:
