CRNA Program
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) group within the University of Rochester Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is a cohesive group of more than fifty clinicians.
Nurse Anesthetists have been practicing at the University of Rochester since the mid 1920’s. Since the formation of the group, CRNAs have been dedicated to patient safety and have been involved in all aspects of pre-operative and intra-operative care. We work in a dynamic clinical setting where communication skills and clinical expertise are paramount.
At the University of Rochester, we care for patients across the lifespan, with varied levels of acuity, and within multiple clinical settings. We provide anesthesia to patients at Strong Memorial Hospital, Golisano Childrens Hospital, Strong West, F. F. Thompson, and the Surgical Center at Sawgrass. We look forward to the opening of the Ambulatory Orthopedic Center in the coming year.
The demand for CRNAs continues to increase as the variety of anesthetizing locations and specialties has expanded within the University. Our group provides care to patients undergoing procedures in ENT, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Urology, Orthopedics, GU, GYN, Pediatrics, Dental, Thoracic, Vascular, Transplant, Trauma, Burns, General Surgery, Electrophysiology, GI, MRI, Interventional Radiology, and Robotics.
The University of Rochester also offers an exciting learning opportunity for students from the University at Buffalo School of Nurse Anesthesia. We facilitate a structured clinical environment for each students’ rotation, provide challenging clinical scenarios with a varied case load. We pride ourselves on being recognized as a supportive learning environment.
The CRNA group at the University of Rochester is looking towards the future where we envision an expanding footprint and diverse practice opportunities for each member of our team.
