The Community Consultation Program (CCP) provides evidence-based technical assistance and training to school teams and agencies serving individuals with educational and/or behavioral needs. It aims to build capacity and promote inclusive practices in community and educational settings, as well as increase positive social, behavioral, and academic skills of individuals served.

The Community Consultation Program is a proven leader for behavioral and educational services. Among its assets are the following:

  • Highly trained professionals, including Licensed Behavior Analysts (LBAs), Licensed Psychologists, Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Educators, Researchers, and Specialists nationally recognized in child development, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and co-occurring disabilities.
  • The application of evidence-based behavioral strategies in the assessment and treatment of challenging behaviors with extensive experience in the process of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Member of the Autism Care Network and the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD).
  • Close collaboration with various clinicians in the Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) Levine Autism Clinic, the Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities (SCDD), and the Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC).

Our Services

Professional Development and Training

CCP offers a variety of professional development and continuing education activities aimed to strengthen and maintain the skills of teams serving individuals with educational/behavioral needs. Customized training activities are designed based on program need and may include ongoing opportunities for skill instruction, modeling, rehearsal, and feedback. Topics offered include, but are not limited to:

  • Classroom Behavior Management
  • Co-occurring Mental Health Concerns (i.e., anxiety, depression)
  • Daily Living Skills (e.g., feeding, toileting, sleep, etc.)
  • Evidence-Based Interventions for challenging behaviors (e.g., wandering, self-injury, aggression, etc.)
  • Executive Functioning Skills
  • Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
  • Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder)
  • Promoting Communication, Peer Relationships, & Social Development
  • Teaching Emotion Regulation, Coping, & Problem-Solving Skills

Systems-level Consultation

CCP is equipped to provide consultation to the design and maintenance of systems-wide positive behavior support programming to maximize student independence and inclusion. CCP offers comprehensive program evaluations and technical assistance, as well as clinical supervision to program staff and consultation to Discrete Trial Training curricula.

Student & Classroom Support

CCP provides consultation and ongoing support to educational programming and social, behavioral, and academic skill-building activities. Additionally, CCP offers consultation to classroom behavior management and the assessment and intervention of behavior, including the development and implementation of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Also offered are Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) and cognitive, academic, and adaptive assessments.

Family/Caregiver Collaboration

CCP is dedicated to person-centered care, interprofessional collaboration, and timely access to community resources and developmental evaluation/intervention. To that end, CCP provides support in the navigation of regional and state systems of support, as well as assistance in accessing high-quality, comprehensive, and continuous health and related services. Also offered are collaborative opportunities with URMC’s Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and family education programs.

 

CCP Team

CCP Consultants have extensive training and experience in Clinical and School Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, and Education with expertise in a broad range of developmental disabilities. The CCP team is specifically skilled at working with teams to translate current research into best practices in school, home, and community settings.
