Social Work
Our pediatric social workers provide services both in the hospital and the community to ease the way for families of children with healthcare problems and to help families keep their children healthy.
Inpatient and Outpatient Services
Whether your child is in the hospital or being seen in one of our outpatient settings, the social worker is an integral part of his or her healthcare team. Social workers are available to help you and your family:
- Cope with stress
- Solve problems and make decisions
- Get connected to supportive hospital and community programs
Social Work Services are available to you throughout your child’s hospital stay 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as follows:
- Multiple locations—Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- On-site pager accessible Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- On-call pager accessible at all other times.
Your nurse can assist you in reaching a social worker. Or, you can contact the hospital’s Social Work Department directly by calling (585) 275-2851. Because continuity of care is important to you and to us, we'll make every effort to have the same social worker support you throughout your child's care.
Community Outreach
Our social workers provide services in city neighborhoods aimed at improving maternal and child health. The programs offer home visits to new families expecting or parenting young children.
