Audience of people

The Center for Community Health & Prevention offers a series of FREE health talks called “Got Health?” to help community members get and stay healthy.

Got Health is provided in partnership with the University of Rochester Medical Center's (URMC) Health Equity Program Support Office, the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County and the YMCA of Greater Rochester. The talks cover basic health information and are delivered in easy-to-understand language. In-person talks are offered throughout the year at the Maplewood Family YMCA and The Lewis Street YMCA Neighborhood Center locations and virtually, in a pre-recorded format, on the Center's Facebook page.

Throughout the series, presenters from our Center, the URMC, and community organizations help to inform the community about health issues and highlight the link between research and community health improvement.

Please join us to learn more about many interesting health topics. You can find past talks linked in the tables below.

Upcoming Talks

Join us for our next Got Health? talk. Aya Cohen, project coordinator at Mt. Hope Family Center, will present "Holding Space for You: Restoring Balance in a Busy World" at the Lewis Street YMCA Neighborhood Center (53 Lewis St.) at 12 p.m. Friday, April 11.

In the rush of daily life, we often prioritize everything and everyone else – leaving little space for our own well-being. This interactive workshop is a dedicated time for you to pause, reset, and reconnect with yourself. Together, explore practical strategies for managing stress, regulating emotions, and slowing down to meet your own needs—so you can show up fully in your life and relationships.
