Mental Health Emergencies

For immediate safety concerns, such as life threatening situations and/or medical concerns, call 911 immediately.

What are Emergency Mental Health Services?

Without psychiatric assessment and intervention, a mental health emergency can result in suicide, homicide, domestic violence, child abuse, or other life-threatening situations.

Our Emergency Mental Health Services provide crisis interventions through our Crisis Call Line, Mobile Crisis Team, and the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency program.

Experiencing a Mental Health Crisis?

UR Medicine's Approach

A crisis is a moment when your mental health issues have become overwhelming, and you find it difficult to cope with the stresses of daily life. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, UR Medicine is available to help with the following resources.

These services are NOT for anyone at risk of suicide or urgent safety concerns such as overdoses, violence toward others, or medical emergencies. In those cases, call 911.

Mental Health Crisis Call Line

The Mental Health Crisis Call Line can be reached at (585) 275-8686. It is staffed by master's level counselors, who are trained in crisis management. The counselor will listen to you, help you talk through the problem and suggest possible solutions.

Brighter Days Pediatric Urgent Care Center

The Brighter Days Pediatric Urgent Care Center offers evaluations and interventions for young people up to 18 and their families experiencing acute distress. No appointment is required.

Mobile Crisis Team

The Mobile Crisis Team is a psychiatric emergency team serving anyone within Monroe County. Our multidisciplinary team of professionals will visit you or your family in your home, place of employment, school, or any other location in Monroe County.

Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP)

The CPEP Emergency Unit, part of the Medical Emergency Department, provides psychiatric evaluations to determine if inpatient hospital intervention is needed and—if so—to facilitate admission to an inpatient psychiatric unit.
