Perinatal Consultation Clinic (PNCC)

Make Appointments & Get Care

Overview

UR Medicine's Perinatal Consultation Clinic (PNCC) provides mental health consultation to people with mood or anxiety disorders who are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or have questions about the use of psychiatric medications during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding.

We also serve those who have recently given birth and are experiencing or are at high risk for post-partum mood or anxiety disorder. We can help with medication and, if needed, we will refer patients to a therapist or psychiatrist.

UR Medicine's Approach

During your initial consultation:

  • A member of our perinatal consultation team will spend about 45 minutes with you to go over your medical history.
  • You will then receive a 45-minute consultation with the medical director of the Perinatal Consultation Clinic.
  • Recommendations for treatment will be made to your referring provider or to a mental health provider if ongoing treatment is needed.

What Sets Us Apart?

We recognize the unique needs of people who are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding. The UR Medicine Program for Mental Health and Gender Wellness, Obstetrics & Gynecology offers numerous types of mental health care.

Our Perinatal Consultation Clinic has extensive experience treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. And because we're part of an academic medical center, our care is informed by the latest research into better treatment and approaches.
