Reconstructive Surgery

Make Appointments & Get Care

Overview

UR Medicine has experts in all facets of reconstructive surgery, including board-certified surgeons with specialized training in diagnosing, treating and providing reconstructive surgical care.

Types of reconstructive surgeries include:

  • Breast Reconstruction – surgery to create a new breast shape in place of a breast that has been removed (mastectomy).
  • Facial Reconstruction – disease, burns, injury, or birth defects, such as cleft palate, can lead to the need for facial plastic surgery.
  • Burn Reconstruction – many smaller burns can be cared for in an outpatient clinic but after a serious, large or complex burn, acute and reconstructive surgery are potential options.
  • Hand Reconstruction – we offer complex hand reconstruction and replantation procedures, designed to restore both function and appearance.
  • Limb Reconstruction – limb reconstruction is focused on saving the legs and feet of patients who have experienced trauma, vascular disease, bone infections, chronic wounds, cancer or other conditions that may make amputation necessary.
  • Wound Care and Tissue Expansion – severe wounds that have caused a significant amount of damage may need to be repaired or reconstructed so that they heal correctly.
