Georgios Romanos

Georgios E. Romanos is a distinguished Professor of Periodontology and Director of Laser Education at Stony Brook University, and a Professor of Oral Surgery and Implant Dentistry at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Germany. He has received numerous research awards, including the T.H. Maiman Award for Best Laser Research from the Academy of Laser Dentistry.

Professor Romanos is trained in Periodontology, Prosthodontics, and Oral Surgery in both Germany and the USA, and is board certified in Oral Surgery and Implant Dentistry in Germany, as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He holds dental licenses in Germany and New York, and has an extensive academic background with significant positions at various universities including NYU, the University of Rochester, and Stony Brook University.

He has served as President of the Implantology Research Group of the IADR, President of the Academy of Osseointegration Foundation, and has held leadership roles in several dental organizations. Professor Romanos is a fellow of many prestigious dental associations and has contributed significantly to dental literature with over 350 peer-reviewed articles, 15 book chapters, and 5 books. He is also a prominent speaker and mentor, with a research focus on wound healing, bone regeneration, implant stability, and laser-tissue interactions.
