Message from the Director
Amy Blatt, MD
On behalf of our residency team, I thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine Residency programs at the University of Rochester.
Our primary mission is to help our residents develop into well rounded, highly skilled and compassionate physicians who are prepared to provide high value, patient centered care to individuals across the continuum of practice settings and medicine specialties. Our residents learn by caring for a diverse patient population, guided by outstanding faculty in an academically rigorous, supportive, and fun learning environment.
Our residency has a number of unique strengths, including cutting-edge ambulatory training; a rich, collaborative research environment; flexible training options; and an exceptional group of kind, dedicated, and dynamic residents. Our residents benefit from the Rochester community itself, which is a wonderfully livable moderate-sized city offering a broad range of cultural and outdoor activities, including easy access to New York State's beautiful Finger Lakes region. Our residents consistently secure the fellowships and job opportunities of their choice and thrive in their post graduate careers.
We offer three-year positions in Categorical Internal Medicine and Primary Care Medicine, two-year Categorical positions in the ABIM Research Pathway, and Preliminary Internal Medicine positions. With the Department of Pediatrics, we also share responsibility for the Combined Medicine-Pediatrics Program. Information on applying to any of these programs can be found on our Applicant Information Page.
I encourage you to explore our website to learn about what makes our training programs truly special. I look forward to meeting you and welcome your questions.
