Inpatient training sites include:
- Inpatient adult, geriatric, and child & adolescent psychiatric units
- Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) and Extended Observation Unit (EOB)
- Rochester Regional Forensic Unit, an inpatient unit that treats prisoners with mental health issues.
- Psychiatric Consultation-Liaison Services
- Inpatient Medicine in Psychiatry unit (IMIPS), that includes a half-day per week in the outpatient Medicine in Psychiatry Service–Primary Care (MIPS-PC) office
Outpatient training sites include:
- Psychotherapy Training Clinic
- Strong Ties, an outpatient clinic for seriously and persistently mental ill patients
- The Older Adults Clinic
- The Schwarzkopf Clinic, an outpatient clinic associated with Rochester Psychiatric Center, a part the NY State Mental Health system
- The Strong Minds Clinic, located downtown and which sees a wide range of patients
- The Socio-legal Clinic associated with the Monroe County Jail
- The outpatient UR Medicine Gender Wellness, Obstetrics & Gynecology clinics
- Highland Family Medicine
- The Mobile Crisis Team
- Interventional Psychiatry Clinic (Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy
- The Healing Connection, for patients with eating disorders
- The Pediatric Behavioral Health and Wellness Clinic, for residents in the Child Track
The Department has providers ranging from physicians to psychologists to therapists, and is also a training site for Social Work and Psychology trainees.
The Department is well-integrated within many facets of UR Medicine. This affords opportunities for inter- and multi-specialty and inter- and multi-disciplinary work.

- General Pediatrics and subspecialty areas of GI, Endocrinology, Neurology, Rheumatology, and the Kirch Developmental Center

- Transplant programs, including the Liver, Kidney, and Heart programs, also the LVAD program
- Neurology, including Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, and Memory Care

Additional longstanding services in the department:
- Strong Recovery, the Department’s outpatient chemical dependency treatment program
- The Deaf Wellness Center provides mental health care to deaf patients in Rochester, which has the largest deaf population per capita in the nation
- Lazos Fuertes, mental health services for Spanish-speaking patients
- Family and Marriage Therapy Services
After Residency:
There are five ACGME-accredited Fellowships for those who wish to deepen their training: Addictions Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, and Geriatric Psychiatry.
