The Daisy Foundation
Patients, visitors, nurses, physicians, employees and volunteers may nominate a deserving nurse for the DAISY Award.
This nationwide program rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day.
Highland is proud to be a DAISY Award Hospital Partner. Highland will recognize one of our nurses with this special honor each quarter.
Nursing Awards of Excellence
Each year, the Department of Nursing recognizes its best and brightest examples of nursing excellence during National Nurses Week. All employees, members of the medical staff, patients and visitors have the opportunity to nominate Highland nurses for these coveted honors.
This year, awards will be given in the following categories:
LPN Excellence Award
The recipient of this award will be a Licensed Practical Nurse who consistently participates in providing high quality patient care. The individual will be recognized as a valuable team member who has made a critical department/organizational contribution towards meeting goals within the past year. The candidate consistently demonstrates ICARE values and behavioral standards.
PCT Excellence Award
The recipient of this award will be a Patient Care Technician who consistently participates in providing high quality patient care. The individual will be recognized as a valuable team member who has made a critical department/organizational contribution towards meeting goals within the past year. The candidate consistently demonstrates ICARE values and behavioral standards.
Rising Star Award
The recipient of this award will be a Nurse who has been a registered nurse for less than two years who demonstrates a passion for their work. The recipient shows promise and is making a large impact at Highland in the short time that he or she has been here.
Nursing Practice Excellence Award
The recipient of this award will be a registered nurse who consistently practices excellence and who utilizes exemplary skill and knowledge in caring for patients in the hospital and in the community. This nurse regularly promotes the use of evidence to improve his/her own practice and overall nursing practice at Highland. This nurse role models professionalism in every aspect of care.
Nursing Professional Development Excellence Award
The recipient of this award will be a registered nurse who demonstrates consistent leadership in the professional development of nurses using adult education principles, implements education offerings to enhance quality and safety using current evidence, and demonstrates a personal commitment to and encourages academic advancement and professional organization membership. The recipient must be certified in his/her specialty.
Jamie Philpott Nursing Leadership Excellence Award
The recipient of this award will be an RN who demonstrates exemplary transformational leadership with a proven record for achieving and sustaining excellent outcomes. This award was named in honor of Jamie Philpott for her outstanding leadership and contributions to the Department of Nursing.
Nursing Excellence in Research and Innovation Award
The recipient of this award will be a registered nurse who demonstrates the blending of scientific research skill and the creative use of knowledge and technology to improve processes of care and achieve excellent outcomes.
Nursing Mentor Award
The recipient of this award will be a registered nurse who consistently demonstrates clinical expertise and innovative approaches to orientation of new staff. This nurse mentors new staff in their transition to professional practice and models mentoring for other professionals.
Dottie Haelen Support of Nursing Practice Award
This important award will be given to an individual who provides consistent support to the Department of Nursing's efforts to improve practice and achieve goals that reflect excellence in patient care. This award was named in honor of Dottie Haelen for her outstanding support and contributions to the Department of Nursing and Highland Hospital.
Rose Award
Patients and visitors are welcome to nominate a deserving Patient Care Technician for Highland Hospital’s ROSE Award. ROSE stands for Raising Our Standard of Excellence. This program rewards PCTs who demonstrate the Highland Hospital ICARE Values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
