Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research
Research Overview
The Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Lab (HTRL) is currently focusing on several basic research projects investigating the pathways of human disease, immune function, blood transfusions, and hemostasis and thrombosis disorders.
Clinical Trials
We are involved in several pharmaceutical clinical trials as well as point of care device studies and instrument validation. Topics of pharmaceutical research include anticoagulation drug reversal in emergency settings, transfusion of new blood products, and novel prophylactic drugs for patients with diagnoses such as sickle cell disease or pulmonary embolism.
We have conducted a range of different point of care device studies that have involved testing anything from INR levels to activated clot time to blood glucose.
Currently we are working on a new platform to validate several coagulation-related assays that could be used routinely in clinical laboratories in the future.
