Program Highlights
- Strong mentorship beginning in the PGY-1 year, initially provided by a mentorship committee and ultimately also your research mentor
- Access to the Research Methods Forum (offered through our Clinical Translational Science Institute). This Forum provides an interactive setting for trainees to present new and developing research ideas to multidisciplinary experts in research methods and potential collaborators, who will provide recommendations. Interested investigators will present their research proposals at an early stage of project development, and again when the research design is more advanced and the collaborative team is more established. This forum has increased the success rate of grant applications and will accelerate integration of trainees into the URMC research enterprise. Ultimately, this forum will help advance trainees more efficiently toward an independent research career.
- Infrastructure to support career development for physician scientists including the K-club, a collaborative forum for trainees to present their mentored grant applications, and the Rochester Early Stage Investigator Network program, a platform for optimizing grant funding success, core curriculum, and inclusive community building for early stage investigators across URMC
- Emphasis on both clinical and research aspects of training—we want you to be an outstanding researcher AND clinician
- Friendly and collaborative environment—our goal is for you to enjoy coming to work every day
- The Department of Medicine is the largest academic and clinical department at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, including nearly 400 full-time faculty and 14 different academic divisions, with strong basic, translational, and clinical research programs
- Over the last five years, URMC has garnered more than $1.18 billion in biomedical research funding, landing the University in the top 26th percentile of U.S. medical centers in federal research funding. Learn more about Research at URMC.
