Cardiac Intensive Care Fellowship

Cardiac surgery on a babyWe recognize that the field of Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care is growing rapidly. As the academic leader in our region, we seek to train fellows that have successfully completed a three-year ACGME-accredited specialty program in either Pediatric Critical Care or Pediatric Cardiology and equip them with the tools necessary to be leaders in pediatric cardiac intensive care, and in the training of future pediatric cardiac intensivists.

The CICU fellowship is a one-year training program with emphasis on clinical skills and management of critically ill (or those at risk for critical illness) neonates, infants, children, and adolescents with acquired and congenital heart disease, as well as the adult with congenital heart disease.

Currently Pediatric CICU fellowships across the United States are not accredited by the ACGME, so the fellow will NOT be Pediatric Cardiology or Pediatric Critical Care board eligible at the completion of the fellowship.
