Provider Guidelines

• Daily discussion of rinsing with normal saline
• Use of cryotherapy when appropriate
• Use of L-glutamine in children and/or adolescents that either have mucositis or at high risk* for mucositis
  ​*High Risk Patients:
  • High-Dose Methotrexate therapy
  • Autologous or Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant
  • Radiation therapy to head and neck or mediastinal regions (to be confirmed with radiation oncologist)
