Research in Pediatric Endocrinology

Child Testing Sugar LevelsResearch projects in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at Golisano Children’s Hospital include studies of the role that hormones play in normal and abnormal development. The main focus of the Division’s research activities is type 1 diabetes mellitus. The Division is a participant in TrialNet, a multi-centered network dedicated to the study, prevention of type 1 diabetes.

  • Britta M. Svoren, M.D.
    Dr. Svoren Investigates environmental factors on the development of pancreatic autoimmunity, the immunologic response, and the onset of type 1 diabetes. She is interested in preventing complications and preserving health for pediatric patients with diabetes, including outcomes and translational research activities. She also assesses innovative technologies, like continuous glucose monitoring.

  • Jyotsna Gupta, M.D.
     Research study to define trajectory of Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) symptoms during early adolescence and describe ovarian function. The findings of this study will be important to describe diagnostic criteria for the polycystic ovarian syndrome. The study is a nationwide multicentric study involving Cornell University, University Of Rochester, Children’ s Mercy Hospital, Texas A and M University.
