I see patients of all ages and lifestyles. My treatment goals are to decrease pain and improve function through surgical and non-surgical options for my patients. My clinical practice includes all areas of foot and ankle arthritis and deformity, bunions, hammertoes, congenital foot problems, sports related injuries to the foot or ankle and revision surgery for prior surgery that was unsuccessful. In addition to providing clinical care for Foot and Ankle problems, I am Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Rochester.

Research

My research interest focuses on using patient-reported outcome assessments to measure and manage treatment options for patients. Using this skill, I have lead the design and implementation of clinical trials to bring new, clinically important orthopaedic products through the FDA into the hands of physicians to improve and advance patient care.

I am the past president of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS); PROMIS Health Organization and Eastern Orthopaedic Association. Currently, I sit on the board of directors of the PROMIS Health Organization as the past president. I have published over two hundred peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. I am a trustee for the American Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and a reviewer for Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research (CORR), Foot and Ankle International and the Journal of Patient Reported Outcomes.
