People do not think much about their feet until they are injured and have trouble walking. People do not think much about their feet until they are injured and have trouble walking. I chose to be a podiatrist because I realized I could make a difference in people’s lives by managing various foot conditions. I see patients with skin issues from infections to athlete’s foot infections to ingrown toenails. Some have orthopaedic issues such as injuries. Others have chronic disease that may cause pain or deformity but also systemic things that affect the feet such as diabetes.

There are a lot of patients who have anxiety about their diagnosis or the perceived treatment. Some patients have embarrassment and do not want to show me what the problem is. I want patients to know that their goals are my goals. I take the time to get to know my patients and customize each person’s treatment plan to meet their needs. I explain why they are experiencing foot pain and offer nonsurgical and surgical treatment options. It is gratifying when a patient comes to my office for treatment and feels better immediately afterward.

Patients let us into their lives and share a problem with us. My goal is to help them accomplish a goal, alleviate pain, or get better in some way.
