About Me

Dr. Michal J. Lada joined the Division of Thoracic and Foregut Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. Dr. Michal J. Lada joined the Division of Thoracic and Foregut Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. He is a graduate of Boston College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. Dr. Lada was awarded his medical degree from Jagiellonian University Medical College.

Dr. Lada completed his General Surgery internship and residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center during which he dedicated an additional two years as a research fellow with a focus on esophageal cancer and motility disorders. He then completed his Cardiothoracic Surgery training at the University of Rochester Medical Center as part of the 4+3 General Surgery/Thoracic Surgery Combined Program.

He has been the primary author or co-author on numerous research publications and is active in presenting his research on thoracic and foregut surgery nationally and internationally. He is involved in numerous societies including The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Association for Thoracic Surgery, American College of Surgeons, General Thoracic Surgical Club and the International Society for Diseases the Esophagus.

His clinical interests include minimally invasive thoracic surgery, lung cancer and mediastinal tumors, esophageal disease including gastroesophageal reflux disease, Barrett's Esophagus and esophageal cancer. Dr. Lada is dedicated to the provision of patient-centered care involving compassion, communication and state-of-the-art surgical treatment.
